San Francisco-based Crowdtilt helps users pool funds from their own network of family and friends for a variety of experiences, purchases and causes. “Tilters” start a campaign and decide how much money they want to raise, then share the news of their campaign through social media.CrowdFunding marketing

Only when the campaign “tilts” to the group’s minimum funding goal, contributors are charged.

“We’re really excited to see what types of experiences and causes Canadians will tilt,” said Tim Ryan, Crowdtilt Canada country manager, in a statement.crowdfunding marketing

“In a country like Canada, the opportunities are endless — everything from a cottage weekend with friends to a group outing to a sports event. Not to mention the social and civic applications.”

The small-scale crowdfunding platform says it can be used to group fund elaborate parties, birthday gifts and more. One of Crowdtilt’s first Canadian campaigns is a group of University of Toronto students who have raised more than $84,000 to replace their broken radio transmitter.Kickstarter Marketing

The company was founded by chief executive James Beshara and chief technology officer Khaled Hussein in 2012 out of the Y Combinator program in Silicon Valley.Indiegogo Marketing
