DONATIONS TO HELP PAY FOR LITTLE BOY'S SERVICE DOG

A little boy who has trouble walking will get some much needed help thanks to the generosity of strangers.

Four-year-old Everette Bradford has spina bifida. He will need to use canes or a walker to get around for the rest of his life. A specially-trained service dog can help Everette get stronger, but would be very expensive.

So the toddler's mother, Mandy Bradford, set up a crowdfunding website asking for donations. She was shocked when the family's goal of $10,000 was reached in just one month. She says they hope to one day be able to repay the kindness in their own way.

"It was a crazy humbling experience," Mandy said. "You know, I wish we could do it on our own. But sometimes you have to step back and let other people do it, because this whole process has shown me that people want to give."CrowdFunding advertizing

Everette already has a name picked out for his new service dog -- Woofster.

"We're working really hard with canes," said Mandy. "That's one of the things Woofster will help with. They have a special harness sort of like the same kind of harness people have seeing eye dogs use, they can get that and he can hold onto the dog while he's working with the canes."CrowdFunding marketing

It will take a little over a year and a half until the dog is trained and ready to go home with the family.
